The Ministry of Environment aims to activate the environmental work in Iraq in a harmony with the country efforts and Society which aim in general to protect the environment and the sustainability of its natural resources.
The Ministry of Environment has published a series of periodic and annual reports which have documented the environmental status in Iraq since 2004 until the year 2010.
A big team has been formed for the report preparation. Itconsisted of about 60 persons, some of them as supervisors, editors and coordinators from the ministry, experts from UNEP & UNDP, and international consultants, other members of the preparation teams for each chapter of the report, came from different institutions (Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Municipalities, Ministry of Planning, General company of Iraqi ports) and also staff from the Ministry of Environment and Environment Directorates in Governorments around Iraq.
The Outlook Report of Environment Status 2013 in Iraq has been prepared in three major sections include eleven chapters that deal with situations, relationships and problems and proposed solutions.
